Chief Executive Officer
Foothill Family Service welcomes its new CEO, Steve Allen, who officially joined the agency September 5, 2013.
Born in London, England, Steve was an active member of the community from an early age and, at 18 years of age, became a volunteer youth leader in his hometown. As an undergraduate student at the University of Manchester, Steve majored in Youth and Community work and went on to successfully complete his Post Graduate studies in Social Work at the University of Liverpool.
Following a 10 year career as a probation officer and then manager of a center for high risk youth, he moved with his wife, Barbara, and two young sons to Pasadena, California.
Steve became the Director of Social Services for The Salvation Army, Southern California Division, where he was responsible for an array of social services programs, many of which were children, youth and family based, along with oversight of 700 full-time staff. He completed this very successful 16 year tenure at the Salvation Army, serving four years as the Executive Director of Development.
Most recently, Steve assumed responsibility as the Chief Development Officer for The American Red Cross, LA region, where under his leadership, local fundraising more than doubled in just three years!
Steve is excited to join Foothill Family Service and feels privileged to be appointed as the new CEO. He looks forward to continuing the quality traditions already in effect and providing leadership to support Foothill’s mission of building brighter futures for children and families
Pat Avery, LCSW
Chief of Clinical Services
Pat Avery joined Foothill Family in 1979 as a Supervising Clinician. After serving as Intake Coordinator, and Director of Child Abuse Treatment, Pat was promoted to the Director of Clinical Services in 1992. Pat received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Pitzer College, and her M.S.W. from University of California, Los Angeles.
Chief Financial Officer
Jim Siegrist joined Foothill Family Service in 2012 as the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining the Agency, Jim spent 10 years in various roles with MediaNews Group, most recently as the Chief Financial Officer of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Jim also served as General Manager of the Torrance Daily Breeze and Chief Financial Officer of the California Newspapers Partnership.
Prior to MediaNews Group, Jim worked at a number of startup companies in the healthcare and real estate industries as well as holding corporate and division level positions with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), the Los Angeles Times, and Thomson Newspapers.
Jim obtained his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (USC) and also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from USC.
Director of Human Resources
Mary O'Brien joined Foothill Family Service in 2004 as the Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining the Agency, Mary worked in HR management, primarily in law firms in Los Angeles and San Diego for over 20 years. Mary is an active member of Professionals in Human Resource Assoc (PIHRA). Mary received her Bachelor's Degree from The University of Phoenix in 2000.
Director of Development
Catherine Rideau joined Foothill Family Service in June 2009 as the Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator. Previously, she was Director of Special Events with Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, and has been involved in fundraising leadership for schools and charities in the Pasadena area for more than 15 years. Catherine received her Bachelor's Degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Tami Mitsumori-Miller, LMFT
Associate Chief of Clinical Services
Tami Mitsumori-Miller joined Foothill Family Service in 2004 as a Clinical Coordinator for School-Based Services. In 2005, she was promoted to Clinical Director for the El Monte site. Tami became the Associate Chief of Clinical Services in 2012. Tami received her Bachelor's Degree from Asbury College in Kentucky and her Master's Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Psychology in Pasadena, California. She has worked in the community mental health field since 1994 and has experience working with foster youth and providing intensive services to children and adults.
Meg Howard, LMFT
Clinical Director, El Monte
Meg Howard joined Foothill Family Service in 2006 as a Clinical Manager for School-Based Services. In 2012 she was promoted to Clinical Director for the El Monte Site. Meg received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, Massachusetts and her Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. She has worked in Community Mental Health for more than 15 years. She has experience providing Intensive In Home Services, Wrap Around Services, School/Agency Based services and Clinical Supervision.
Victoria Huangfu, Psy.D.
Clinical Director, West Covina
Dr. Huangfu joined Foothill Family Service in 2003 as a Psychologist. In 2005, she was promoted to the position of Clinical Coordinator and has served as Clinical Director for the West Covina office since January 2007. Dr. Huangfu received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, California. She has worked in the area of children's mental health since 2001 with a focus on domestic violence and its impact on the family; psycho diagnostic testing and assessment; and grant writing.
Danette Lew, LCSW
Early Head Start Program Director / El Monte South Family Center, Clinical Director
Danette joined Foothill Family Service in 2005. She has led Foothill Family's start up and implementation of the Early Head Start program in the La Puente, El Monte and South El Monte, Alhambra and Rosemead areas since 2010. Danette received her Bachelor's Degree in Communications Studies from UCLA and an MSW from California State University, Los Angeles. She has worked in the social services sector for the past 15 years and has experience working in the child welfare system, foster care and adoption, family therapy, and domestic violence treatment and prevention.
William Peters, LMFT
Clinical Director, Duarte
William Peters joined Foothill Family Service in May 2005 as a licensed therapist in the school-based program in Pasadena. He then served as Clinical Manager of the Duarte site’s Early Esteem program before being promoted in 2013 to the Clinical Director position in Duarte. William earned his Bachelor's degree in Integral Liberal Arts from St. Mary's College of California, and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. William has worked in the community mental health field for 14 years, working with adults, children and most recently 0-5 year-old children and their parents.
Sheila A. Thornton, LCSW
Clinical Director, Pasadena Oak Knoll & Helen Morran-Wolf Family Center
Sheila Thornton joined Foothill Family Service in 1985 as a Contract Worker in the Clinical Services Department. In 2001 she was promoted to Clinical Director for the Oak Knoll/ Family Center Site in Pasadena. Sheila received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame and an MSW from Boston College. She has worked in the community mental health field for 32 years and has experience in foster care and adoption, child abuse treatment and prevention as well as domestic violence treatment and prevention and crisis mental health.
